DVR Recording all episodes of shows and not just new ones

I've been watching Last WeekTonite with John Oliver - my DVR is programmed to record only the new shows, but it's recording all the repeats.  This has just started; it was working fine last week.  I have double checked my DVR program and it still says it will record only the new shows, but records every one.  Frustrating - how do I fix this?

Re: TV picture size

Your in control of the picture size if it's cut off.  On newer HDTV's there is a size or ratio button on the TV's remote.  Depending on the cable box and remote, there is a zoom button on the Comcast down by the 0 button.

Press them all until the picture returns to normal.

Re: External Hard Drive

Thank you ComcastTed and ComcastZach for your response. I went with the Fantom drives 2TB Gforce 3 USB 3.0 / eSATA Aluminum external hard drive (gf3b2000eu). I bought it thru amazon and I also bought the eSATA cable they recommend. When I got started I was at 99% full on my DVR. When the external hard drive arrived. I plugged everything up making sure the external drive was off and my DVR was on. As soon as I turned the external drive on it recognized it right away and an on screen prompt asked me if I wanted to format drive. I said yes and within 20 seconds it was done. I checked my DVR and I had went down to 19%. So far so good. I haven't had any problems with it. I've recorded new shows and watched them as well as things that were on the DVR before the new drive and everything works flawlessly. Only problem I have with it is. It's a little louder than the cable box but once you start watching a program you can't hear it. Just wanted to share a little bit about my experience since I searched forever looking for information on what external drive to buy. Everywhere I looked it kept saying the WD my book AV and it was no longer available. I'll try to come back and update this post in a couple months let eveveryone know how it's going.

will rj 59 be phased out?

Due to your issue and many others, Legacy cable will be offered for quite some time to come...  X1 is an option, and is not going to ouright replace Legacy.  Yes, old wiring in multi-dwelling units do present challenges to the signal levels that the X1 system requires.  I wouldn't worry.

Change in DVR Behavior

For the last few years, when I deleted a program after it ended, the DVR returned to the list of recordings.  Now, it just returns to live TV.

Is this a planned change?

Re: Why can't I get NFL Network on my Digital Transport Adapter?

Hello joecast,

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Currently NFL Network is on channels 733(SD) and 860(HD). Those channels are not available for viewing on the DTA boxes.

Can I use Chromecast or Apple TV with the Xfinity TV mobile app

Re: Quantum View TV remote codes

Quantum View. TV CODE !!!
When you research codes it will fall underneath Samsung. I just program my Tv using a Samsung code.

Re: Scheduling is off.

Hello Bjteach,

I apologize for any inconvenience. From time to time, networks will change their scheduled programming on short notice. Unfortunately, this may leave insufficient time for the On Screen Guide to be updated, causing the guide information to be inaccurate. If the problem persist please reach back out as that may be indicative of another issue. Thank you for your patience.

CableCard provisioning issue on 2 Tivos after moving residences - Same behavior!

I need some help with the CableCards on my account, and after placing over a dozen calls to the CableCard dept. and having a technician come out, I am no closer to getting my equipment working since I moved residences.

I contacted Mover's Edge and let them know about my impending move, and a technician came out and set up my Internet and TV with an X1 box, all of which are working perfectly fine.

I then called to get my CableCards set up, and after trying with the support person from the CableCard dept, I was only able to get ESPN, BET, WGN, and the Weather channels on both boxes. He suggested I replace my CableCards. I replaced my CableCards and attempted to pair my 2 TiVo boxes again, and could still only get the same 4 above channels on both boxes, which exhibit the same behavior. A technician came out yesterday and verified that the equipment was correctly placed on my account.

He then verified they were paired correctly and that the signal in my house was working correctly. He ended his visit by telling me there is nothing wrong with the hardware and that if another technician was sent out, there would be nothing more they could do. He suggested I try to call Comcast.

After speaking with yet more support reps, I am no closer to a solution, nor have I spoken to anyone knowledgable about this error. I am paying for a service that I cannot access. It seems this could be a provisioning issue, and something is wrong with my account that is not letting my TiVo receive the channels I am subscribed to.

Can Comcast please assist?

The cards have not been coded correctly to your account. Comcast has great difficulty getting this right.

Your only hope is that one of the Comcast mods here offers to help you.

DVR's and Set Top Boxes boxes running regular cable are considered "Legacy".

The X1 platform with its own unique DVRs and Set Top Boxes is the system that is "advanced".

recording a show

my dvr will not record some shows

Re: recording a show

Always start by power cycling the DVR, unplug the AC power for a minute, then power it up again.

If it continues, post the error code or message you see when you try to record.

Post the model of the DVR.
